When, Why, and How it was founded

The Story Behind Ambaa Seva Foundation A Movement Born from Compassion. Rooted in Dharma. In the monsoon of 2012, the state of Bihar witnessed catastrophic floods that swept through villages, destroyed homes, and left thousands without food, shelter, or medical care. Amid the chaos, a small group of young volunteers stood undeterred, driven not by resources but by resolve. Their mission was simple yet profound: to serve. What began as a spontaneous relief effort quickly revealed a deeper truth that crisis only exposes the chronic. The suffering they witnessed wasn’t just the result of a natural disaster. It was the result of generations of marginalization, lack of access, and systemic neglect. And so, from the waters of that tragedy, Ambaa Seva Foundation (ASF) was born. Not as a charity, but as a spiritual mission. Not as an organization, but as a people-powered movement.

Why "Ambaa"?

‘Ambaa’ represents the Primordial Divine Energy, the sacred feminine force that nurtures, protects, and uplifts all life. In every act of seva (selfless service), we invoke this energy — one that transcends religion, caste, and class. For us, service is not a duty, it is dharma.
